A hundred and eighty acres on the spot where Las Vegas actually began: botanical gardens, trails, a playground, train rides, the Nevada State Museum with its fossils, and hands-on classes for children.

Admission is charged and membership starts around $30 a year — check their site for current prices. The library district sometimes lends free passes, so ask at your branch before you pay.
